Lack of Sense of Belonging

I attended an English discussion this morning. It was just a sudden activity, after I went to a Car Free Day event. I went through the sidewalk, and saw a banner of a multi-languages discussion included English. Others are Mandarin, Japanese, and Korean. So, briefly, one of the instructors invited me to join the discussion.

I joined lately, and I was trying to blend with the other participants. The topic was, “how to make X city cleaner?”. Uhm… That was an interesting topic, though it’s already a common issue everywhere in this country. One participant, say Mr. T had a good idea, that according to him, it has to be started from the top, the government. He said that the government has to make a better and clear regulation and rule to solve the problem. Moreover, there had to be penalties or fine to punish the “violator”. Interesting.

Other participants spoke their own opinions about how to cope with the problem. some said, education had to be well to educate the youngsters not to throw the garbage everywhere, and some said that it has to be started from the individual himself. Uhm… pretty good.

Then, there come my turn to deliver my opinion about it. I spoke my thoughts about it, including the government should provide a good infrastructure to prevent the people throw their garbage everywhere (at least there is a trashcan). But the punchline was, I said, “people are lack of sense of belonging”. I think that’s the main cause of why people tend to throw their garbage everywhere, do vandalism thing, damage the facilities, etc.

Then the instructor started to contemplate, and thought that it made him a better person. Which he stated, to have a sense of belonging.

Well, there are so many regulations in the country, there are penalty, however it’s just the people. We, we are lack of sense of belonging. A sense that reminds us not to do bad things, cause we know that we belong to each other, including the neighborhood, the environment.

January First 2014. Swimming!

New Year, again

First of all, I wouldn’t say happy New Year in this post, because all of you have already said it. But unfortunately I did. Yeah you read it in the first line of this post. Alright then, I don’t want to write a long post now, coz I’m feeling sleepy. However, I still want to spend my precious 10 minutes to write it down.

Yeah it is a new day, a new day in every calendar all over the world. So what changes beside the calendar itself? I think there’s nothing much changing in this January first 2014. I still do my daily life almost same as the day before. You would agree with me that it would not be a fast changing in one day.

January-First-2014

01/01/2014

I’m glad that I’m still alive today, still healthy, and still trying to be a happy guy. So, yeah I want to be a happy guy, guys! In order to be a happy guy, I have to be in “health condition”, right? I heard that healthy is an expensive thing, isn’t it? So then, I have to do exercise to keep my body health. So what’s next? Uh, no no no… I write too long.

I just want to say in this post, that this afternoon I went to swim. This was the first time for me to go for swimming. It was the third time for me to swim in this last seven days. Even though it was the third time in this last week, but this is the first time for me swim in January first. And I think it was a something new! I never swam in January first before. So, again, I think it was a something new! And hopefully it indicates a good beginning for this new Year.

Swimming teaches us a valuable thing. In order to keep balance, you have to keep moving. Just like riding bicycle. And of course, I think this philosophy can be one of my guides to live my life in the right direction to be on my own track.

January first, hello!

A Quite Tight Schedule

Start from today until this weekend, I’ll have a “quite tight” schedule. I will teach memorizing class, conversation, and writing class. It means that I have to wake up in the early morning, at least 5.00 am. The first class, memorizing class will be started at 5.30 am. The conversation class will be started at 8.30, and the writing class will be started at 13.00. And yeah, I got a new additional duty to help the tutor at the IELTS class, and it will be held at the afternoon, about 16.00.

TIGHT-SCHEDULE

Tight!

I used to teach 2 classes on the last few weekends, and this week I’ll teach from the early morning until afternoon. And in the night I have to correct the student’s writing book. Alright, so, all day long and all night long. It’s a bit hard, but yeah that’s life. I have to try it!

I hope I’ll enjoy this week’s schedule, the tight one. And hopefully I’ll not have a health issue because of this tight schedule.
